New Techniques

Patrick Rochon, one of today’s most influential light painting guru’s, and one of my all time favorites, recently held a workshop on Learnster.com showcasing his talent and techniques.  I couldn’t resist, I had to have it!

So here are some of his techniques.  Thank you Patrick!  Please check out his awesome work at http://www.patrickrochon.com.

Light Painting Tracy

I recently had another great night playing in the dark with Tracy.

There are several new techniques I am exploring involving post primary exposures.  In my classes I refer to it as, “adding the spice.”  What I mean by that is, I light paint my subject and then paint objects very close to the lens to create movement or bokeh.  Anything with any reflectance is a potential candidate for awesomeness.  I love the randomness and fine details this technique yields.

All these images are created in camera.

Creative Lounge 10

Every month our studio, Studio 51 in Charlotte, NC hosts a Creative Lounge Meetup.  We open up the studio to guest photographers and models and see what develops.  The theme of Creative Lounge is that there IS no theme.  What happens at Creative Lounge happens after the doors are open.  Nothing is planned.  If you are interested in participating in our meetups, please join our group.
